EU RoHS exemption sunset schedule
The largest material compliance event since the original RoHS directive. Twenty-one exemptions expiring through 2027.
6(a) and 6(b)-I (for categories 1-7, 10) expire on December 11, 2026 — less than a year away. Parts using lead in steel or aluminium alloys must be re-evaluated now.
When an exemption expires, affected parts have two paths forward: re-declare under a new exemption code where one applies, or move to an alternative part that does not contain the restricted substance. Send your supplier declarations to identify affected materials and track which path each one is on.
